“Minbar” means podium — a place where anyone can stand and be heard.
Our story
Minbar Initiative began as a series of small community conversations — people gathering to discuss the issues shaping their lives, from local governance to youth opportunity. What started around a single table grew into one of the most active civic communities in the Somali public sphere.
Today, Minbar hosts public forums, produces media discussions, and builds bridges between citizens, thinkers and decision-makers — in Somalia and across the diaspora.

Mission
To create open, inclusive platforms where Somali citizens participate in the dialogue that shapes their society.
Vision
A society where public dialogue is a habit, participation is a right exercised by all, and every generation has a seat at the table.
Values
Inclusion. Integrity. Courage in conversation. Respect for every voice — especially the ones history has kept quiet.
